It’s Friday, Friday, gotta get down on Friday…..Here’s what’s been going on this week:
What Am I doing?
Woohoo! It’s Friday. And you know what that means? More yardwork until my back breaks! WOOHOO! So, this last week, we actually put up the posts for our pergola that will go over our brick patio in the back corner of our yard. We’re looking at a sizeable patio that will be able 14′ x 18′. I was hoping to start laying bricks this weekend, but most likely will just get the borders in and drop some sand it to get it level. Not really looking forward to tamping it all down, but it’s gotta be done. Also, I’m excited for the upcoming holiday next week. Grandparents will be back in town, so it’s back to the cabin on the lake for a firework showdown!
What’ I’ve Been Reading:
Check out some of the coolest blogs on the interwebz!

Money Trail asks Did You Make Money Mistakes as a Teen? . I definitely did. If you don’t know my story, check out How I Blew Through $100,000 Before I Turned 21.
The College Investor asks Do You Suffer from Financial Burnout?. Definitely happens to me EVERY YEAR!
Tight Fisted Miser writes abouts his Van Customization Progress. Sweet diggs!
Financial Samurai asks How Much Savings Is Too Much?. I think there should be no limit. What do you think?
Thirty Six Months talks about The True Cost of Credit Card Purchases. Uh oh!
Work Save Live gives some great tips on What To Do When Selling a House – 7 Things To Get it Ready to Sell.
Married With Debt talks about his Online Money Resources (other than blogs). What are you reading?
Budget Fridays: I apologize to those who were looking forward to a Budget Friday update this week. It’s honestly been WAY TOO CRAZY to sit down and give it the time I would like. I will get it completed and posted next week!

Thanks for taking the time to read my “How to Triage Bills.” And that looks like some serious wood!
I’m guessing around 250lbs. per post!
Don’t work too hard this weekend Jacob. Save some of that for when summer finally shows up around here. I guess you also want that all done to really enjoy the sun when it does arrive. Anyways, enjoy the weekend.
That’s exactly what I’m aiming for. I want to get this stuff finished, so when the sun comes out (stupid NW weather!), I can just enjoy the new backyard instead of working through the summer. I’d rather bust my butt getting this stuff down quickly than drag it out…….though most likely I’ll find another project to occupy me once this is done! IT NEVER ENDS!
Enjoy your weekend and thanks for the mention! I think I’ve given up on the idea for a patio. I would probably do it if I was going to host the wedding reception there but I’m thinking park now.
Patio’s are a lot of work. We’re only doing it because 1) It’ll look awesome and 2)We host a TON of parties and family get-togethers. We love having people over, and by adding a patio we get a TON more usable space! Have a great weekend
Thanks for including my post. It is good to see you have some help on the patio.
Absolutely. I would never get any of this work done if it was not for awesome family and friends!
Thanks for including my article this week!
Doing yard work isn’t so bad but I’ll say that I’m not envious of you this weekend! I hope it wasn’t 100+ degrees outside like it is here in KC, MO!
I live in the northwest. Summer starts here on July 5th. Our weather was about 62 degrees and light rain :\
But I agree, 100+ would not be fun to do any work in!
Ahhhh, a weekend of lumber and power tools! I was a manly man this weekend also. I built a “guitar case rack” so that I could stand all my guitar cases upright! Making compound angles with miter saws – good times!
Heck yes. Nothing like power tools, inhaling a little sawdust and washing that sawdust down with a cold brew.
