Can’t believe it’s already Friday again!
Here’s what’s been going on this week:
What Am I doing?
This week we started prepping for our patio install. Today, I’ll be digging 3ft. deep holes for the 6×6′s to be installed tomorrow. This is for our pergola that will go over hte patio area. I don’t look forward to it, especially since it’s raining lions and bears outside! Oh well, man’s gotta do what a man’s gotta do. After we set the posts, Michelle and I will set the edge of the brick patio with leftover 4×4′s, get some crushed granite and level the patio area. Then it’s time to install the bricks (thousands of them!). Apparently that’s the fun part

But I definitely am excited because I have received my first volunteer. WOOHOO!! Look for that next week! If you would like to submit, feel free to hit me up – iHeartBudgets @ gmail

You mean “Thirty Six Months” talks about staying in different peoples’ homes right?
Corrected! Haha, too much copy/paste and a splitting headache is not a good combo!
Thanks for visiting and mentioning Money Counselor!
Of course!
I love DIY! Or would it be ‘DIM?’ Whatever…it saves so much money and it can actually be fun, too. Have a nice weekend and hopefully you’ll be able to enjoy the fruits of your labors very soon.
I’m hoping this can all be done in the next two weeks. I have a feeling that is a pipe dream at this point. I’ve never tamped down 2,000 bricks, so we’ll see
It does save a ton of money, though. I’ve definitely saved thousands on loabor so far, probably thousands more to come.
Thanks for the mention! Happy patio building!
Thanks. I think the happy part comes when I’m done
Super big thanks for the mention! Good luck with all of the work this weekend. I’m about to start cleaning up my house and hopefully can relax a bit tonight before I work excessively on the blog this weekend (while the wife works as well).
Thanks! it’ll be a ton of work, and I’m volunteering at church all of Sunday, so no rest for me. It’s ok, though, because it’s going to rain until July 5th here, like it always does. So hopefully I’ll have everything done soon after and get to enjoy the sun when it arrives.
Thanks for including my post.
Sure thing
Thanks for the mention this week!
Welcome
Thanks for the mention! I remember puttin in a similar patio on my old house. Took us 4 weekends, but save a few thousand dollars. The digging and tamping is the worst part.
I’m not looking forward to the tamping and leveling of the ground. Lucking, we had a tractor do most of the hard digging, but we still have to level the sand. I’m am entertaining the idea of renting a power tamper to do the hard work
Hmm..I’ve been thinking about putting a patio in our backyard. I’m holding off on it as it’s a rental and I’m not sure I want to put that much money/time into it right now. We may move next year…but now that I keep reading your updates I kind of want to do it again!
And thanks for the mention!
I wouldn’t do it on a rental if you’re going to move. But, I’m SUPER EXCITED for this patio. We’re going to have tons of parties and hang out there whenever it’s sunny out! I hope it’s worth the effort, because my body is taking a beating for this.
I like hearing about those outside projects! We need to get going on a patio this year!
Do it! Patios are the best thing about backyards. You won’t regret it
