What in the world have we been doing all week? Being awesome. Also, some other stuff. Scroll on down to check it out
What Am I doing?
Well, my wife surprised me and took us to a rad hotel (do people still say rad?) We got to kick it celebrity-style for a night and enjoyed downtown life in the sun. What an awesome surprise for our 4-year anniversary. I’m wondering if I need to up the ante next year…hmmm…
We also are chuggin’ along on our patio (STILL!). We’re hoping to have it mostly done by the end of this weekend (fingers crossed) and to start putting up the pergola. Don’t worry, I’ll have pictures soon.
Car Accident Update:
Well, they sent me a check for the damages, but they forgot a digit, so they “accidently” shorted me over $1,300! I’ve been writing about billing mistakes this week, so I bet they read my posts and figured they would throw another one at me. SHEESH! I wonder if I’m just unlucky? I called them and sorted it out, but seriously, what’s up with that?!
Ok, on to the good stuff:

There are other, very cool blogs who have been generous enough to mention iHeartBudgets on their sites. Here’s a list of them and the articles I was mentioned in:

What’ I’ve Been Reading:
Check out some of the coolest blogs on the interwebz!
Modest Money tells us about Effectively Using Keywords On Your Blog – Part 2. The point of a blog is to have readers, so this is EXTREMELY useful stuff!
Add Vodka talks about Saving on Road Trips. Fast food will get you every time!
Money, Life and More talks about The History of Daphne the Dog – Pets are EXPENSIVE! Cute dog!
Club Thrifty writes about Buying a House vs. Renting: What’s the Right Call?. Good read!
Work Save Live discusses High Cholesterol – The China Study Diet & Fitness Challenge.
The College Investor has a new team and wrote about it in Get To Know The College Investor Team. Great team, IMO.
See Debt Run is Budgeting Down In the Weeds Dave Ramsey style. That’s my kind of budgeting!
Bog Of Debt does something daring and posts her Potential Wedding Budget. Thoughts?
Money Counselor has a great post asking Why Overpay for Everything? It’s sarcasm, btw.
Budget Blonde is a new blog I’ve been reading, and she posted a great comparison last week about What Olympic Gymnastics And Budgeting Have In Common. I think budgets are definitely something you have to exercise and improve over the long run, and this is a great metaphor for them.

Thanks for mentioning me! It stinks that they shorted you but I bet a bunch of people don’t notice and that is why they do it. I bet they consider cashing the check as acceptance and I’m guessing most would have just cashed the check before asking for more.
Lance @ Money Life and More recently posted..Random Thoughts, Round Up and Carnivals #16
Yup. If I just cashed it, they would have closed the file and not ever brought it up. So frustrating. But I’ve become somewhat of a detective with our bills, it would take a lot to slip one past me
Thanks for the mention!
Wow! $1300? I’m sure they hoped that you wouldn’t notice! Ha,ha!

That is my guess too. Luckily the check’s now in the mail
Thanks for mentioning “Why Overpay for Everything?” Best anniversary wishes!

Thanks for the mention! You are too kind!

Of course
Thanks for the mention Jake. That short change on your insurance check would be funny if it wasn’t for the fact that it was likely done on purpose. It’s probably company policy to try to screw everyone over knowing that the majority would just accept it. People assume that the numbers are right and that companies wouldn’t scam people like that.

Insurance will do anything to NOT pay out. Luckily, they were actually nice about it when I called, so it wasn’t a HUGE hassle.
Thanks for the mention Jacob.
I can’t wait to the see the picture of your finished patio..
You *did* take BEFORE shots right, so you can put them side by side?
I always seem to forget to do that whenever we renovate.

Hah, yes, we did. We usually have the same problem, but definitely have some good before pictures. Patio is almost done, just a few more feet of bricks!!! It’s looking pretty awesome..
I wonder if they ever try to short people intentionally, hoping that they’d get away with it. It’s a good thing you’re diligent.
My wife and I are planning a small trip for our anniversary. We’ve never really done anything very nice, so we’re pretty excited about it. Glad you got to live it up for a night!
Jason @ WSL recently posted..How We Create an Irregular Income Budget
I have a feeling that they always err on the side of the company, rather than the customer for billing if they’re not sure about a charge.
Anniversary trips are wonderful, you’ll definitely like getting away

Argh! My job forgot to pay me last week, so I know how you feel. Errors never seem to happen in our favor. Congrats on the anniversary!
John @ Married (with Debt) recently posted..We Did It: Debt Free
Thank John. Not getting paid seems like kind of a big deal…At least you don’t glaze over that mistakes, kinda hard to miss!
Also, congrats on the site re-design, it’s lookin’ pretty sweet.
You have some bad luck with accounting errors these days, huh?
Ps. I have the same glasses. HOT!
Marissa @ Thirty Six Months recently posted..The Benefits Of Saving Money
Seriously. I seem to be a magnet for these mistakes!
Wait, my glasses, or Mrs. iHB?
Thanks for the mention and good luck getting that check error sorted out!
