What Am I doing?

This week was a fun one for the bloggity blog. I popped up all over the net. First, I showed up over at Club Thrifty with my post about how to buy a used car like a BOSS! Then, J Money over at Budgets Are Sexy was inspired by my idiocy of wasting $100,000, and had his own story of how he blew $1,000 by age 22! WHOA! Finally, I got a calls from AOL’s Daily Finance on how to save cash money during summer parties. I told him to PUT IT IN THE BUDGET! And some other tips, but it was definitely a fun interview and I talked his EAR OFF about budget planning, saving, and how we get down in the summertime on the cheap!

At home, we’ve been steadily working through our to-do list, though we’ve been interrupted a million times by having WAY TOO MUCH FUN playing with our little man. All he wants to do is play basketball in the backyard, run through the sprinkler, and eat anything and everything in the fridge :) It’s been a blast watching him learn and laugh and just enjoy life, and has inspired us to enjoy the moment rather than always looking months or years ahead. I think we could all use a little slow-down time, and take it from me, it’s totally worth it. You list will still be there when you get back.

And on Friday Michelle had round 2 of her famous Naked Lady Party (don’t worry, this link is safe). It’s not what you think, it actually the world’s best clothing swap. We’ll have a write up on round two coming up on the blog soon. And finally, we’re preparing our backyard and home for a wicked awesome 4th of July party! We’ve got a ton of backyard games, the lawn’s all green, patio is set, and since we live in an unincorporated area of the county, we can light off as many fireworks as we want! I’ll make sure to give a sweet recap, and let you all know how much money we burned in the night sky.

And just for fun, after getting a bunch of pushback on Club Thrifty for my used car post, I wanted to post a “proof” pic of the mileage on my car. My car is an Accord, and I’ve got leather seats (albeit ripped), moonroof, power everything, decent power, air conditioning, and the thing shifts like a champ. And I get 30 MPG to top it all off. You’d think I would have paid $25k for a beautifully running machine like that, but that is not the case. My 1994 Accord cost $1,600, and has been a champ for over 4 years now. And here’s the original miles on the car:

294,692 miles!

294,692 miles!

  6. We have a 97 Civic that we use for driving to work and around town so that we don’t have to drive the truck much in the summer. It has around 202K miles, so this give me hope, although I’d never take it more than a couple of hours out of town….Thanks for the mention
